2013 Topps Gyspy Queen Brewers Checklist and Picture Gallery

I've decided to try and put together a full gallery of all the 2013 Topps Gypsy Queen Brewers Cards.  All of them, or at least as many as I can find images of.

Here is the checklist as far as I can tell. Paul Molitor has a card, but I do believe he's featured as a Twin this year.  I haven't seen a scan of his card yet so I'll update this when I know for sure.  There is also a Don Sutton card in the set, but I'm pretty sure he's in a Dodgers' uniform.

2013 Turkey Red - Brewers Team set.

Well there is a new product out among us right now.  Topps exclusive online Turkey Red has finally gone live.  This year the Brewers have 3 base cards and 4 autos (plus parallels) to chase and a few of them are really rare.

Just seems odd to me that the Brewers would actually have more autos to chase than base cards.

Mike Fiers auto is the most abundant at 689 copies.  There are also 2 parallels to chase here the black bordered auto #d to just 10 and the red bordered auto numbered 1/1.

Rickie is the next most populous card with just 44 copies.

Rookie Shortstop Jean Segura is numbered to 30.

And finally Wily Peralta is numbered to just 20.

Here's what a black bordered auto looks like.  I couldn't find any red bordered ones up on ebay yet for anyone.

I don't have a single card from this set yet and I'll wait for the fervor to die down before attempting to pick up the base cards.  The only auto I think I have a shot at getting a decent price is the Fiers, but we'll see.

Bob's your Uncle?

This is way old news, but since I'm taking a trip back to the motherland this spring and plan on making at least one game at Miller Park, since I've never been there.  I wanted to see if perhaps there might be a giveaway.  The wife and I were planning on trying to make the Brewers - Cubs Series near the end of April. And it just so happens there is a bobblehead giveaway on Sunday, but I think we were planning on going to the Saturday game.

1982 Brewers World Series Pabst pennant autographed by Jim Ganter

Been awhile since I posted sorry.  I was digging out some stuff to showcase on my Yount blog and ran across this gem I picked up a while back.  As a matter of fact I'm not sure when or how much I paid.  I do know I got it off of ebay.  It's autographed by Jim Gantner, and after looking at examples of his auto I'm fairly confident it's legit.  I actually got two of these.  Someone had taped two of these together for some reason and it's obviously been hung on a wall there are pin holes in all three corners, but a great little piece of Brewers brewania.  I'm not sure the history of these. But I'm sure they were either given out to bars as a promotion or a giveaway either before the game or sometime after.  It's just made of thick paper and they have seen better days.  Meant to be hung on wall the back side is blank.  

One of these days there'll be another one of these for us Brewers fans.  Well we have less than a month till Pitchers and catcher report.  Cheers everybody.

2012 Topps Update Brewers Team set

I finally got around to putting the Brewers teams set together from this years Update set.  And while I like that there are 9 cards in the team set, it fills a 9 pocket page with no waste, there are a few rookies I would have like to see included, Michael Fiers and Wily Peralta. These guys got rookie cards in Bowman and Chrome, but it would have been nice to include them in the flagship set. And to be honest a few of these guys were only Brewers briefly and aren't on the team anymore. As it is there are 8 player cards and one All-Star card of Braun.

First up we have a guy not with the team anymore.  #US27 Cesar Izturis.

Cesar signed a minor league contract with the Brewers this year, was invited to spring training and was added to the 25 man roster for the season. He was claimed off waivers by the Nationals in August.

#US51 Manny Parra. I'm pretty sure the only reason Parra is in the update set is because he didn't make it into the regular set.  Parra missed all of 2011, but was with the team all of 2012.

#US108 Kameron Loe

#US143 Jose Veras. Jose came to the Brew Crew as a trade with the Pirates for Casey McGahee last year.

#US197 Cody Ransom. Another guy  not on the team anymore.  The Brewers picked up Cody off waivers from the Diamondback only to have the Diamondback take him back later this year. Just when he was getting hot.  Cody also hit his first grand slam with the Brew Crew this year.

#205 Travis Ishikawa. I'm finally glad to have a card with Ishikawa in a Brewers uni. I got to see him play at spring training and he was lighting it up. And was very nice and signed a ball for me.  I'm hoping he's at spring training next year because I'm definitely sending to him.

#US231 Tim Dillard Tim's been up and down with the Brewers organization for a while.  Don't know if he's going to be back next year or not.

#US271 Ryan Braun All Star.  The only Brewer who made it to the All Star game this year.

#US317 Marco Estrada. Last year was Marco's "break out" year, but this year he was finally put to work. Pitching 138 innings and getting 143 strike outs.  

Well there you have it. And I can't believe I haven't posted here is forever. I thought for sure I'd posted the base set.  Well I'll have to remedy that.  Until then.

The 70's they're done!!

A few years back I decided to try and organize my Brewers team collection.  I had been pretty haphazard up until then.  Picking up random Brewers relics and autos, keeping extra base cards from sets I was putting together or packs I opened.  I finally decided to try and put together full team sets.  My over all objective was to have a team set or every issue ever to feature a Brewer in it.  That's a little overwhelming to say the least, so I broke it down into easier chunks.  The first of those chunks was get a complete team set from all Topps flagship issues from 1971 to present.  Well I'm happy to say that the 70's are finally done.  And since this was by far the hardest and most expensive to finish, I'm very happy.  I'd also like to thank all those great traders out there that sent me cards along the way and still do.  I'm close to finishing up the 80's and 90's.  Believe it or not finding singles from a lot of those sets is harder than you think.  I've been using Justcommons.com to fill a lot of holes but even they don't have all I need.  If any one else knows a great website that has cheap commons with cheap shipping let me know.  I plan to feature all 9 70's sets here soon, other than the ones I've already featured.
